# v04-phosphor

**The idea.** A printed index glowing on a tube. Everything is centred,
everything is set in Plex Mono, and the whole page is one amber surface: the
motto in letter-spaced mono at the top, the catalogue under it, the
sign-up at the foot. The scanline overlay is turned up (opacity 0.22) and the
vignette with it, so the page reads as a lit surface rather than as a
document.

**The tool list is a real multi-column block.** CSS `columns: 3` with a
hairline column rule, not a grid of cards: the catalogue runs down one column
and continues down the next, the way a printed index does. No entry is boxed
or shadowed. Each entry is a name, its languages, three lines of description
and two links.

**Reading one entry.** Pointing at an entry takes an amber rule down its left
edge and steps it three pixels to the right. Nothing else happens: the type
keeps its colour, the column does not reflow, and the entries around it are
untouched — a printed index has to stay readable while a finger runs down
it.

**Dither.** The hero burn-in behind the claim (a canvas ramp from amber into
black at 8px cells, masked to a radial halo) and the band before the sign-up
at 7px with a drifting checker layer.

**Parallax.** The hero burn at 0.22 of the scroll rate, the band's checker
layer at 0.14, the dot grid at 0.16 — the halo behind the claim lags the type
as soon as the page moves.

**Palette.** Amber `#ffb000` on `#07070a` with amber-tinted white text; pale
signal blue `#9be7ff` for the Docs and Repository links and nothing else.

**Type.** Mono for everything, including the claim and the headings — the
display face points at Plex Mono. The sans face appears only in the sign-up
blurb.

**Notches.** Bottom-right, small (20px), on the buttons and the two sign-up
boxes. The catalogue has no notched element in it at all.

**Arrows.** Two in amber, 4px with tight 14/10 dashes: the hero buttons into
the catalogue heading, and the last entry into the sign-up.

**Density.** The catalogue is the densest block on the site, deliberately — it
is a printed index — but it is the only dense thing on the page: the hero is
three lines of type and two buttons, and the two sign-ups are one box each.

**Mobile (390px).** One column, left-aligned rather than centred, every
description already at full length, entries separated by rules with 44px link
targets, and the motto down to 6vw with the letter-spacing pulled in, so each
of its two clauses takes a line of its own and no word is ever split.
